She Sure is {Popular} Scribble me This

As a child, I was a wit. I could dance the hula. I had great hair. I was working on an ever expanding vocabulary. However, it was clear early on that my parents took their greatest reward in rolling me out for this one parlor trick. Draw a scribble. Give it to the girl. She'll make it sing.

I was sure my parent's friend's desire to see the girl who scribbled was just a fluke. However, apparently the interwebs and my family and friends all see my worth the same way.  My blog gets more than a quarter of its fame from society's apparent insatiable hunger for "Scribble Drawings". Google brings them  here. So today I scratch my head, and let Jon scribble away on this lined paper, where I build a popular menagerie of mingled line.

p.s. in keeping with today's Illustration Friday theme... I might be responsible for a clean million of the views on this video: http://youtu.be/8UVNT4wvIGY

You are the scribble drawing master! I love them.

True Story: I had a stroke of genius/fluke scribble drawing in the 4th grade. It was on a huge sheet of paper, and the scribble just spoke to me... it asked to be a lazy fisherman on a riverbank. It was amazing. I peaked as an artist at the humble age of 9.

Duchess, I am sure it was ten kinds of Old Man and the Sea, which is to say infinitely wonderful and heart warming.

(Panda is cool, but I like weird fish best)

Roland, thanks so much! Your lines are just gorgeous, so it's an extra nice compliment.

Lovely creatures, all, but I love the dog on the bottom the best. It is a very good and useful skill to have, particularly should you find yourself with writing materials and bored children (or adults!)

wow! are you related to Mr Squiggle? He was an institution on Australian TV for years. Many generations watch 'the Man from the Moon' with his pencil nose turn squiggles into all sorts of fun cartoons. Google him...

That is suck a cool 'trick'! I might have to steal it and try having a go at it as warm-up or something. Again, very cool!
